Elwood Marvin Jarvis, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in Wichita Falls. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2015 at Crestview Memorial Park with Army Chaplain Tom Medley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Elwood was born on September 14, 1923 to Eddie Luther and Hester Jewell (Gilmer) Jarvis in Sunshine Hill, Texas. He was a graduate of Holliday High School and immediately enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943. Elwood was an airplane mechanic, a trade that he continued with, while he was in the Air Force Reserves and then during his Civil Service career of 35 years. He and his wife Marjorie had two children. Upon Elwood's retirement from Civil Service, the couple loved to travel to various places around the country, including New York and Georgia, but he really loved going to family reunions, where he took on the role of family historian. Elwood was also quite an artist, and spent hours on end painting pictures. He was also a big fisherman.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents and wife Marjorie. He is survived by one son, Marvin Jarvis and wife Gail of Henrietta and daughter Emma Terry and husband James of Midland. He also leaves behind three grandchildren and nine-great grandchildren.
