Ireta Bell Mason
Ireta Bell Mason, 74, of 240 S. 500 E., died Friday at Utah Valley Hospital of heart failure.
She was born Sept. 15, 1898 in Glenwood, Sevier County, to Herbert H. and Lucy Payne Bell. She married George Dewey Mason April 18, 1917 in Manti LDS Temple. He died in February, 1938. She was a licensed abstractor and a member of the LDS Church.
She received her education in Richfield. After her marriage she lived in Aurora, Sevier County. She and her husband moved to Provo and Merta several towns in northern Utah. In 1926 they moved back to Provo.
She had served as county and state director of recreation and nursery schools for five years. She was a licensed abstractor of titles since 1941 and she was employed with Security Title and Abstract Co. and was vice president of Utah Title Co. She also worked for the Utah County Recorder and Surveyor offices.
Active in the LDS Church, she has served in many church positions including primary presidency, stake play director in Provo stake and first counselor in the YWMIA,
Survivors include one son and two daughters, Ferral D. Mason, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Barney B. (UnauLoy) Clark, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Glen (Shirley) Farrer, Provo; two brothers and two sisters, Ivan E. Bell, Morgan; Rodney T. Bell, Twin Falls, Ida.; Mrs. 0. Harvey (Montez) Harward, Provo, and Mrs. Lemar (Madia) Oldroyd, Tooele.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Berg Drawing Room Chapel with Bishop Brent Davis of Provo Seventh Ward officiating. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services Tuesday. Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery.
