CHARLES KELLER ANDERSON of Melbourne, FL. He grew up in Baraboo, WI, graduated from Baraboo High, attended the University of Wisconsin obtaining a BS Degree in Commerce, worked as an accountant for General Electric in Schenectady, NY , was a WWII, U.S. army Air Corp veteran serving as a navigator on bombers in the 459th Bomb Group. He returned to GE, but shortly returned to the Air Force for training as a meteorologist at MIT. He flew as the weather officer on hurricane hunter airplanes. He returned to MIT, earned a Master of Science Degree in meteorology, attended the University of Colorado, earned a PhD in Astrogeophysics, headed the Air Force's first Solar Forecast Center at ENT AFB in Colorado Springs setting up a network of observatories around the world in order to maintain round-the-clock surveillance of the sun, the solar wind and space environment around the Earth, transferred to Alexandria, VA to run the Ionospheric Division of the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) and retired from Patrick AFB in FL. Among his service decoration are the Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Legion of Merit. Preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Tracy Anderson of New York Mills, NY (married 1950), surviving are children, Stephen, Grady, Dewey and Donna; grandchildren, Thor, Sigrid, Cory and Kelley and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Spenser. There will be a graveside service held October 20, 2015. Florida Memorial Funeral Home in Rockledge, FL is serving the family. Published in the Florida Today October 20, 2015.
