J. RICHARD CUPP
---James R. Cupp, son of Luke Lee Cupp and Harriet Jane Cupp, was born at Goodland, Missouri, February 14, 1856, and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Joyce of La Plata, Missouri, Monday evening, June 3, 1929, aged seventy-three years, three months and nineteen days. He was a resident of La Plata for thirty-six years.
---Mr. Cupp was married to Malinda Coleman, March 7, 1877. Two children were born to this union and survive him, Mrs. Will Wares and Mrs. Fred Joyce, both of La Plata. Mrs. Cupp died March 22, 1909 and was buried in La Plata.
---A brother, Nelson Cupp of near Sue City, Missouri and a sister, Mrs. W.S. Hodges of Monroe, Louisiana are living.
---He took fellowship with Sue City Baptist Church under the ministry of W. R. Skinner and later transferred membership to the Baptist Church of La Plata.
---Mr. Cupp had been in failing health for a number of years and since the month of May has failed rapidly. His children were at his bedside during his last days.
---Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at 2:00 Wednesday conducted by the pastor, R.R. Watts.
