Betty was born on September 13, 1927 in Labelle Idaho, to Joseph LaVern and Louie Eileen Lundquist. She was raised in Swan Valley and attended Granita Elementary school, and later graduated from Ririe High school. She trained as a nurse and worked at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. They owned and operated Swan Movie Theatre in Swan Valley. She married Ross James Muir on July 10, 1946. They lived in Rigby for 7 years and then moved to Seattle for 46 years. They formed lifelong friendships everywhere they lived. Betty was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as Relief Society president, she also worked in the primary and Scouts. She drove a school bus for 30 years. She was an avid gardener, and loved to cook for crowds. Her specialties were bread, pies, and cinnamon rolls.
Betty is survived by her daughters Sylvia MarJean (Roger), Bonnie Sue (George) Olsen, her sons Vernon Ross (Cherilyn) Muir, Jerry Dean (Kim) Hinckley, and Jon Royal (Jerrie). She is also survived by 13 grand-children and 32 great grand-children.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ross James Muir, two children James Lundquist Muir (Son), and Pamela Muir (daughter).
Services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, 11:00 am at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, 101 West Main Street. Family will visit with friends and family prior to the service starting at 10:00am. Burial will be in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent Washington. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to Homestead Assisted Living Center, 408 West Main, Rexburg, ID, 83440.
