Chapin—Funeral services for Tena Dirksen Halfwassen of Chapin, who died of a cerebral hemorrhage Monday at 9 p. m., at the Lutheran hospital in Hampton, will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock at the Greenfield funeral home in Hampton with the Rev. S. E. Polvina in charge, and at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Chapin with the former pastor, the Rev. H. M. Tiffany of Albion, in charge. Burial will be made in the Wayside cemetery at Chapin.
Tena Dirksen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Dirksen, was born 1 ½ miles west of the present homestead, Dec. 11, 1883. She was married to Peter H. Halfwassen on Nov. 27, 1907, in Franklin county and to this union were born 5 children: Henry Halfwassen of Chapin, Mrs. Menno Albers of Klemme, Miss Labena Halfwassen and Mrs. John Meints of Hampton and Conny Halfwassen, who died March 17, 1931.
Besides her husband and children she is survived also by one grandchild, Mark Henry Halfwassen; two brothers, Rinder Dirksen of Latimer and Cornelius Dirksen of Darfur, Minn., and a half-sister, Mrs. Fred Faber of Buffalo Center and one half-brother, the Rev. John Dirksen of Ohio. Five brothers and one -sister also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Halfwassen spent all of her life in the Chapin community and was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and the Methodist church.
