Morris Ackley, former county superintendent of poor nad previously for a period of years Oneonta town overseer, a man well known in city and county alike, died quite suddenly at his home, 54 East Street, Saturday morning, death being attributed to a shock he sustained, it is believed, in the early morning hours, although he had suffered for about wo years from Bright's disease and high blood pressure.

Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home and were conducted by the Rev. Louis H. Losch of the Main street Baptist church, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by the Rev. Truman F. Hall, D.D., of Cooperstown, long a friend of the deceased. Interment will be made in the family plotin Riverside cemetery.

The deceased was a son of the late Willis and Mary E. (Cooley) Ackley and was born in the homestead near the Upper reservoir in the town of Oneonta, April 17, 1861, and he has always been a resident of the town or city. He first married Julia E. Sheldon, a sister of Hiram W. Sheldon, on October 12, 1881, her death occurring May 5, 1903. ON January 15, 1906, he married for his second wife Mrs. Adelia M. Spraker, also of Oneonta, and she with two children by the firstmarriage; Albert W. Ackley, division freight and passenger agent of the D.&H. company and Mrs. Allie W. Emerick of 51 Cedar street, Oneonta, survive him.

Mr.Ackley was a man of sterling character and firm convictions with a wealth of devotion to his family and friends. His loyalty was strong and his interest in all matter of public concern, keen. All who knew him will regret his passing and will sympathize with the sorrowing family.
