Funeral services with full military honors for James A. Coffman, Jr., 64, who died March 24th in Sheppard Air Force Base hospital were held Wednesday, March 27th at 11 a.m. in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Guier, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Electra Memorial Park under direction of Totten-Day Funeral Home.

He was born April 14, 1920 in Gorman, Texas, son of the late James Arthur and Virginia Caskey Coffman, Sr. He married Josephine Coburn December 31, 1948 in Electra.

A 29 year veteran of the military, he was retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served 15 years active duty with Airborne Division and also taught R.O.T.C. at the University of Texas for three years and 11 years in Nevada. A veteran of World War II, he was part of the Corrigador Invasion with General McArthur and the 503rd Airborne Division.

He had returned to Electra in 1978 and was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Abilene Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite in Dallas and Shrine Temple in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary J. Coffman of Electra; a brother, William (Bill) Coffman of Wichita Falls; a sister, Kathleen Banner of Wichita Falls.

Pallbearers were Tommie Rowe Jr., Kurt Adams, Steve Banner, John Prickett, Brad Klein, Waid Robinson and Steve Scheurer._
