TRAVERSE CITY - Donna Louise Lewis, 74, of Traverse City, died Thursday at home.
Born Oct. 27, 1925, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of Stanley W. and Lillian H. (Lardie) Wood. On April 20, 1945, in Traverse City, she married Merlin "Stub" Lewis.
A homemaker, Donna was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas - Court 1391, where she was also the financial secretary. Donna was also a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. She enjoyed reading and her greatest pride were her grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn (Gerald) Dafoe of Traverse City, Connie (Scott) Youker of Traverse City and Cynthia Lewis of Loxahatchee, Fla.; three sons, Larry Lewis and his special friend, Ann Hoopfer, of Suttons Bay and Robert and Jeffrey Lewis - both of Traverse City; and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth (Tom) Fitzgerald of Traverse City, Nell (Bill) Pitcher of Traverse City and Barbara Scarpelli of Bloomingdale, Ill.; and five brothers, Stanley (Lennie) Wood of Traverse City, George (Ferne) Wood of Quinlan, Texas, Francis (Karen) Wood of Live Oak, Fla., Jim (Pat) Wood of Gaylord; and Tom (Shirley) Wood of Traverse City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin "Stub" Lewis on April 29, 1987; one granddaughter, Michelle Zemke; and a brother, John.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church with Rev. Father James Gardiner serving as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Mapleton.
