Evalyn M. Livermont, 88, of Salinas, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side Thursday, August 30, 2012. Born in Chadron, NE, Evalyn lived in Salinas for the past 51 years.

Evalyn enjoyed sitting in her potting chair in the back yard cultivating her cacti and succulents. She was a charter member of the Monterey Bay Area Cacti and Succulent Society. She also belonged to the Cacti Societies in San Jose, San Francisco, and San Luis Obispo.

Evalyn was very proud of supporting our troops by working in aircraft munitions manufacturing during World War II. After the war, she married the love of her life, Lawrence "Bud" Livermont, and raised cattle and owned and operated the local country store in Wanblee, SD before moving to California.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence W. Livermont. Evalyn is survived by her daughters, Charlene (Louis) Goldman of Lemoore, Edwyne Livermont of Salinas, and Geradette (Eli) Boozer of Prunedale; her sons, James Hill and Larry Livermont, both of Salinas; she leaves a sister, Maxine DuBray of Mission, SD; brother-in-law, John Livermont of Wenatchee, WA; her grandchildren, Leland, Donald Keith, and Bryan Goldman, and Shaun Martinez; and great-grandchildren, Justin, Heather, and Abigail.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Healey Mortuary Chapel.
