James Wesley Ageton, age 80, passed away peacefully at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

Jim was born January 2, 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD to Cecil and Mabel (Sisson) Ageton. Upon graduation from Washington High School in 1953, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and after training at Ft Bliss, was stationed in Japan. Upon his return, Jim began working part time at Builders Supply Company and attended Augustana College, graduating in 1960. On August 23, 1958, Jim married Bonnie Marie Goebel. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls, where they raised their three daughters.

Jim spent his entire career with Builders Supply Company, becoming a partner and later company president. He retired in 1996. Jim was also active in the trade organization, Door & Hardware Institute, where he became International President and was awarded the Distinguished Architectural Hardware Consultant designation. Jim was a life-long member of First Christian Church and was also active in Siouxland Lions.

His daughters are most thankful to have been blessed with an earthly father that made it so easy to love and trust their Heavenly Father. Jim was a loving father, supportive and nurturing grandfather and enthusiastic great-grandfather. Known for his gentle spirit and positive outlook, Jim enjoyed being around people, serving his church, traveling to places near and far, and reading.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his parents, Cecil and Mabel; his brother, Roger; and his sisters, Phyllis Ageton, Connie (Ageton) Dell, and Joyce (Ageton) Nelson.
