His wife preceded him in death , Rebecca Martha Henry Eller, and his parents John W. Eller and Hannah C. Brubaker Eller. Christian and Rebecca had six sons, Rev Orien D; Rev Henry Cline ; Rev Ramon E.; Rev Paul Christian; Rev John Clinton; Lowell F. Eller and 4 daughters, Sadie H. Eller Spangler; Gertrude J. Eller Leffler; Ruby Eller Foster; and Edna F. Snavely. The children grew up on Eller Sugar Loaf farm. He was a minister, teacher, and farmer & orchard farmer. He went to Bridgewater College for one term & became a certified school teacher , he taught in a one room school house called , Grisso Gate. He married Rebecca M. Henry 9-2-1897 at the home of her parents, John Thomas & Jane Grisso Henry located 2 miles off "Back Creek & Bent Mountain Rd.", where Poage Mill Post Office & Mill were located. After 5 years of marriage they began their home 5 miles south of Salem, Va. He helped build 2 Oak Grove Church houses & 1 Parsonage. He planted his largest peach orchard which came into production & sold his crop to Kroger Grocery Co. In 1912 he helped establish the Sugar Loaf Telephone Co & served as an officer. In 1914 he had an agreement w/ Sugar Loaf Canning & Produce Co. & it was a major farm activity until after the close of WWI. In 1934 he convinced the nearby phone company in Roanoke, Va. to extend service to Oak Grove Community and his sons , Orien, Raymon, Paul & John C. dug the holes & planted the telephone poles into the ground for the phone company. Christian E. was one of the first to buy a Fordson tractor to use on the farm & in the apple & peach orchards. He was instrumental in establishing Oak Grove Church of the Brethren by donating the lumber cut from his property & milled at Jamison Saw Mill.
