Impressive final rites were accorded at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Van Natta Funeral Home for Mrs. Carl A. Swanson, 53, beloved lifelong resident of Sycamore, who passed away Monday at her home, 739 Edward Street. She had been in failing health since last December, when she underwent throat surgery. Dr. Allen Regan of the Methodist Church officiated at the services and the interment took place in the Elmwood cemetery. The numerous lovely floral tributes bespoke the love and esteem of her many friends and family members.
Verna S. Barth was born April 7, 1907 in rural Sycamore, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barth. She was educated in the Sycamore schools and on October 30, 1937, she was married to Carl A. Swanson.
Her main interests radiated in her home and family members, and in her church, she having been a faithful member of the Methodist Church for many years. She was also a member of the Lady Elks and the Royal Neighbors.
Left to mourn her demise are her husband, her mother, a twin sister, Mrs. Bernard Ferguson and one brother, Leroy Barth, all of Sycamore. She was predeceased by her father and a sister.
