NEW MADISON, Ohio- John P. Hines, 84, 312 S. Main St., died Sunday afternoon at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, where he had resided since April.
He was a native of Kentucky and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a tool maker and retired in 1955 from Avco in Richmond, Ind. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a Marine Corps veteran of World War I. His first wife, Mary, died in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Swabb Hines, whom he married in 1984; one daughter, Doris Paddock of Centerville; one stepdaughter, Evelyn May of Greenville; two stepsons, Oscar Swabb of Arcanum and Roger Swabb of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Grace Baker and Harriett Wilkins, both of Columbus, Ind., and Bertha Cates of Richmond. One son Charles is deceased.
Private funeral service for John P. Hines will be at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Gerri Simco officiating. Burial will be in Abington (Ind.) Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Storch-Braund Funeral Home.
