Elizabeth Paulina "Perliner" Deal was born in the Tennessee Valley Township of old Macon County, NC, in the area which later became part of Swain County.

She was the daughter of William Deal and Martha "Patsy" Jennings Deal.

November 26, 1868 in Macon County, NC, she married Thomas William "Tom" Allen. The couple appear on the 1870 Census residing in Welch's Township of Macon County, NC.
