Arthur O. Eckert, 75, of 502 Pennsylvania, died Friday afternoon at the Leavenworth County Convalescent Infirmary. He had been in failing health since last October.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
Mr. Eckert was born Nov. 28, 1896, at Arrington, a son of Jacob W. and Honora Cruise Eckert. He and the former Miss Julia Smith were married May 30, 1918, at Atchison. Mrs. Eckert survives him. Mr. Eckert had retired as a correctional officer at the Kansas State Penitentiary at Lansing.
Other than his widow of the home, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martha McConnell, Frontenac, and Mrs. Elizabeth Adair, 1011 N. Broadway; a son, Marvin G. Eckert, Everest; four brothers, Jacob Eckert of Mayetta, Otis Eckert and Andrew Eckert, both of Effingham, and Glynn Eckert, Atchison; four sisters, Mrs. Mable Meyer of Holton, Mrs. Lois Littleton of Valley Falls, Mrs. Nora Edds, and Mrs. Helen Gaggerio, both of Topeka; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to Cushing Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at the funeral chapel.
