Cary R. Howard, 81, of Bronxville, NY and Fredericksburg, VA, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023.
Cary was born in Corbin, Virginia, in 1942, to Elizabeth "Liz" and William "Bill" Key Howard. She and her sister, Ellen, grew up at Belle Hill in Corbin.
Cary received her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College and her master's from The University of Georgia. She taught high school math for over 30 years. Cary was a true Civil War buff and volunteered at The Jackson Shrine in Woodford, VA. She was known for her extensive historical knowledge of the area, her amazing sense of humor, her exceptional baked goods and her divine Southern accent.
Cary is survived by her loving daughters, Ashley Rosebrook and Key Rosebrook of Bronxville, NY; sister, Ellen Eberly of Warren, PA; sons-in-law, Stefan Peters and Perry Greenfield and her four grandchildren.
The family will hold a private interment in Rappahannock Academy, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Cary's honor to Feeding Westchester.
