Lydia Marie Murray, 7

Wells County's first child to receive a liver transplant and also the first dual liver transplant recipient of Wells County, Lydia Marie Murray, 7, of Bluffton died at home with her family at 12:30 a.m. Friday, March 25. She had been in failing health since last December.

A student at Bluffton-Harrison Elementary School, she was a member of the Dream Team T-Ball League and the Dream Team Bowling Team. Although she endured numerous surgeries and strenuous physical demands amid complications, she and her family members were an inspiration to many in the community and well beyond.

Daughter of Michael Wayne and Mary Margaret Petzel Murray, who survive, Lydia was born April 30, 1997, in Bluffton, where she resided through her life. She was a member with her family of the Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene. Also surviving are two sisters, Katie and Claire Murray, both at home, her grandparents, Jerry and Christie Petzel and Jerry and Lois Murray, all of Bluffton, and great-grandparents Fred and Martha Rupel and Ruth Murray, all of Bluffton.

Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thoma-Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, and at the church for one hour prior to the services Monday. The services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Larry Sheets, Pastor Walter Graeflin, Pastor Rich Secor and Pastor Dan White sharing in the presiding. Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery.
