Son of Stephen Barco and Arcadia Raulerson. Nickabud was born in Providence, Columbia Co, Florida but had relocated to Ocala before the age of 13, where his family was enumerated in Marion County on the 1860 census.

His brother, Joseph Barco (1865-1928) is buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Citrus Co., FL. His sisters, Caroline Barco Driggors (1858-1937) & Francis Barco Gains (1853-1903), are buried at Cedars of Lebanon Cemetery in Levy Co., FL. Sister, Margaret Barco Blanton (1868-1932), is buried at Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, Dallas Co., AL.

Nickabud enlisted in 1864 in Captain Agnew's Home Guard of the Confederate States Army in Crystal River, FL during "the War between the States", he would have been about 17 years of age.
He was enumerated in Hernando County, FL in 1870, age 23, also listed was his cousin, James M Barco & James' wife, Susan Niblack Barco. His occupation-retail merchant; their post office-Crystal River.
The 1880 US Census lists "Nick Bares" in Hernando County, married to F A, age, 23; with four children, his occupation - merchant.
1885 Florida State Census, Hernando Co. FL: N A Barco, age 37; wife, F A Barco, age 25; Alice, 12; Warner, 10; Mary, 5; and Jos Barco 18.
1900 US Census he was enumerated as "Nick Borco" in Citrus County; married to Katie C, mother of five children (three living); his occupation was saw mill owner.

Nickabud died in Gainesville, Alachua County, FL in 1918 at the age of 71.
