He was born April 12, 1940, in Sandusky, NY to Lewis K "Pete" Wilber and Ruth Schang Wilber.
He served in the U.S. Navy, after which he became a long haul truck driver. He met many obstacles in life, but in the end had an understanding with his family and God.
He is survived by siblings, Joan (Wes) Boutwell of Lakeland, FL and William Wilber of Baltimore, MD; five children, Emerson (Cathie) Sever of Simpsonville, SC, Theresa (Skip) Trammel of Franklin, NC, Kathy Massey-Owen of Leadville, CO, John R Wilber Jr of GA and Kimberly Hadzima of Virginia Beach, VA; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Patricia Helene Harrell.
