Kathryn Mae Akers, 95, of Berryville, VA died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at a local nursing Home.
She was born October 21, 1919 in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Carl M. and Nannie Thomas Lackey.
Ms. Akers retired from Woodward & Lothrop Department Store in 1982.
Several organizations that she was involved in were Franklin Graham Samaritan’s Purse, Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and World Vision.
She is survived by two daughters Joyce A. Padgett of Boyce, VA and Carol G. Dewey of Ecuador; one brother, Horace Lackey and a sister, Lois Kinsey both of Roanoke, VA, two grandchildren ,one great grandchild and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday June 11, 2015 at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Karen Adams officiating.
