Alan H. McWherter, 88, of Batavia, IL, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Michealson Health Center in Batavia, IL. He was born on December 18, 1926 in Martin, TN, the son of Carl R. and Ann Rebecca (Callison) McWherter.

Alan shared 57 joyful years of marriage with the love of his life, Doris. He served his Country during WWII in The United States Army, and then again during The Korean War in The United States Air Force. Alan also served as a Captain in The Civil Air Patrol. He worked in the banking industry. Alan finished his career, as a Corporate Real Estate Leasing Manager for Citibank in Chicagoland, where he was a lifelong resident. He was truly respected and loved as a Renaissance Man.

Alan is survived by two sons; Carl (Deborah) McWherter of Batavia, IL, and James McWherter of Greensboro, NC; one daughter, Janet (Scott) Scharlow of Batavia, IL; six grandchildren, James (Rhiannon) McWherter, Sean (Angie) McWherter, Robert (Rebecca) McWherter, Michael McWherter, Lauren Scharlow, and Alec Scharlow; four great-grandsons, Collin, Andrew, Gavin and Jackson; and one sister, Joyce Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris (Fessler) of 57 years, and one sister, Sue McWherter.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Moss Family Funeral Homes, 209 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia, IL. Following the visitation, we will depart the funeral home in procession for funeral services at 1:00 PM at Assumption Catholic Cemetery – Chapel, 1S510 Winfield Road, Wheaton, IL 60189.
