HAROLD BRUE
Harold Brue, son of Carl and Mathilda Knudson Brue, born December 1, 1916, married Aletha Ahrenholtz, daughter of Irene Quathamer and Louis Henry Ahrenholtz. They lived at Defiance 23 years on the Henry Ahrenholtz farm, owned by Louis Ahrenholtz, now owned by Rick and Paulette Ahrenholtz Rasmussen. In December 1971 they moved to Irwin where they now reside.
They are the parents of five children: Vernon 1947, Joleen 1950, Becky 1951, Karen 1953, and Benji 1959.
Vernon is married to Linda Nelson, daughter of Tom and Lillie Nelson of Irwin. They are the parents of three children: Robert 1967, Kristen 1969, and Malissa 1973. Vernon is a mechanic employed by Wilson Hybrid in Harlan. Linda works at the Harlan National Bank. They are active members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Joleen Brue Glisar is a legal secretary in Sioux City and a student (music) at Morningside College.
She is a member of Siouxland Sounds Chapter of Sweet Adelines, International and belongs to a barbershop quartet, Sioux-Per Vibes.
Becky is married to Mark Reinig of Urbandale.
They are both members of "Festival," a show band.
Their home (when they are not on the road) is in Skidmore, Missouri. Becky is a keyboard artist and vocalist. Mark plays drums, French horn, and is also a vocalist.
Karen is married to Dale Wood of Greenfield.
They live in Greenfield. Dale is an instrumental band director for Bridgewater-Fontanelle School.
Karen is a lab technician at Siegwerk Ink Factory in Greenfield. They are active members of the Lutheran Church and avid golf enthusiasts.
Benji is a 1981 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a B.S. in Chemistry. Chemistry and music are his interests.
Aletha manages a bake shop, "Le's Creative Cakery", from her home in Irwin. She caters many weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and other festive events. Harold has retired and assists in the catering business.
Harold and Aletha belong to the United Methodist Church in Irwin. Their love of music and their childrens' love of music provides them with an enjoyable "outside" activity.
