She was born September 14, 1924 in McDowell County, NC to the late William Estes Smith and Elizabeth Dyer Smith.
Edna was a member of Dysartsville Church of Christ. She was the owner/operator of Edna's Beauty Salon for 25 years.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Crawley and ten siblings.
Left behind to cherish Edna's memory are her daughter, Maxine Marretta of Pensacola, FL; three granddaughters, Amy Collins of Glenwood, NC, Heather Collins of Gulf Breeze, FL and Nancy Brown of Pensacola, FL; four great-grandchildren, Kaleb Collins, Ocean Collins, Joshua Collins and Ana Collins; one sister, Ruth Sigmon of Nebo, NC. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all whom loved her dearly and took good care of her.
The family would like to especially acknowledge her niece, Frances Harris, who visited daily, ministered and took wonderful care of Edna.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 9, 2015 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC with Will T. Winchester, officiating minister.
Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
