The only child of Dorcas Anne Worsham (who died in childbirth) and her husband Daniel Mobley Williamson, Charles was the oldest of the 23 children of his father. Charles was a Confederate soldier who was killed during the the 2 day Battle of Resaca fought in Gordon and Whitfield Counties, Georgia on May 13 to 15, 1864. Resaca was part of the Atlanta Campaign of William Tecumseh Sherman who engaged the Confederate Army of Tennessee led by Joseph E. Johnston.
Charles' brother James S. Williamson was also a casualty of the Civil War, dying during the Battle of Mobile Bay in the fall of 1864.
