Mrs. Duncan was born in Chili, Ill. She moved with her parents at an early age and settled in the Dawn community. She was educated in the schools there. She married John Wesley Duncan in Chillicothe on February 24, 1889. The couple lived here for several years then moved to Kansas where they lived at Plainview and Garden City. They returned to Chillicothe in 1911. Mrs. Duncan operated the stand for about five years after her husband’s death.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elva Benedick of Plainview, Kansas and Mrs. Bessie Hester of San Antonio; three sisters, Mrs. Louella Benson of South Bend, Indiana, Mrs. Iva Earlenbaugh of Hays, Kansas and Mrs. Pearl Bedwell of Belleview; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Duncan was an active member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Ella Bible class and of the Royal Neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon from the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Kuntz of Hannibal will conduct the services. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.” The Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, February 10, 1949
