He was born March 23, 1933 in Oconee, IL, the son of the late John & Pauline Holthaus Pollman. He lived his life in the Oconee and Rosamond areas, was a graduate of Pana High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
His memberships included St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana; AMVETS; Pana Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4431; Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee; Pana Knights of Columbus; lifetime member of Pana Elks Lodge #1261; past member of Pana Sportsman's Club and Pana Eagles Club #4109. Pete was a retired contractor and enjoyed working in the yard, woodworking and antiques.
Lawrence Pollman and Doris Marie Dahler were united in holy matrimony on December 10, 1960 in Oconee.
He is survived by his wife Doris Pollman, Rosamond, IL; children: Kurt (Teresa) Pollman, Pana; Debbie (Dan) Layzell, Baton Rouge, LA; Gina (John) Gruber, Pana; Lori (Mark) Budds, Pana; Kim (Markes) Rodgers, Rosamond; Jennifer (Bryan) Swisher, Pana; 19 grandchildren: Tyler, Nathon, Taylor, Tanner, Kristina, Katie, Megan, Joe, Christopher, Jacob, Austin, Jessica, Danielle, Weston, Cassidy, Alexander, Sadie, Kacey, Evan; 9 great grandchildren: Cash, Roman, Dominic, Adriyana, Cameron, Tessa, Kelsey, Lucas, Kylee; brother Mike Pollman, Oconee; and by his sisters: Mary Mills, Pennsylvania; Pauline Limper, Missouri; Louise Arnold, Pana and Ruth Kinney, Pana.
He was also preceded in death by his baby sister Norma Pollman.
Funeral Information
Funeral mass will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee with graveside military rites by Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with rosary at 7:00 p.m.
