John Gottfried Wyssmann, called Gottfried, was born in Canton Bern, Switzerland on March 12, 1851, and died January 3, 1941, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 22 days. His resting place is Zion Lutheran cemetery at Fairmont, Garfield County, Oklahoma. He was laid to rest January 5, 1941, with services at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Henry Mueller officiated and the organist was Martin Maehr. Funeral text was Luke 2:25-32 Apply your hearts to wisdom. This wisdom consists in preparing in the hour of death. This wisdom also consists in that you look for and cling to our Savior in true faith. A wisdom which was granted the deceased. This wisdom is given to men by the Holy Ghost through the gospel. May he rest in peace until glorious resurrection. Pallbearers were Harold Nobis, Orville Meyer, Ervin Wyssman, Arthur Wyssmann, Rudolph Wyssmann, and Walter Wyssmann.
