Walt was born on January 26, 1927, to George Gregory and Amelie Michel Abadie.

A native of Home Place (now Port Sulphur), Louisiana, located in Plaquemines Parish. He worked with Kean's/Red Stick/Cintas Linen and Uniform Company for over 42 years of continuous service having begun at the age of 27 years old. He began working with Kean's while a student at LSU and returned there after serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He then moved, with his bride, to Fort Worth, Texas but returned to Baton Rouge and Kean's two years later thus beginning his 42-year tenure.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Dillion Abadie whom he lost on November 21, 2008, his parents, George Gregory and Amelie Michel Abadie; his brother, George Gustave Abadie and his wife Mildred Ranson Abadie.

He is survived by his daughter Rebecca Anne Abadie; his son, George Gregory Abadie; grandsons, Kenneth G. and Jonathan M. Abadie; granddaughter Mary Michel Adams and great granddaughter Abigail Lee Abadie. Walt is also survived by a daughter-in-law Dee Dee Harris Abadie, whom he loved dearly; nephew Michael A. Tham and his wife Susan and a niece Dr. Sandra A. Kemmerly and her husband McNeil.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday October 8, 2015, from 11 am- 12 pm. Funeral Services will began at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
