Final services are to be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Van Natta Funeral Home for Roy Hoyt, 84, longtime resident of Clare, who died Wednesday morning at the DeKalb County Nursing Home. Dr. C. Wesley Israel of the Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery.
He was born in Malta May 7, 1878, son of Ira and Mary Reil Hoyt. At the age of 20, he moved to Mayfield Township, where he was engaged in farming until ill health forced him to retire. On July 2, 1920, he was married to Etta Lakin, who passed away in 1950.
He is survived by a brother, Clifford of DeKalb; four nieces, Mrs. Blanche Buttery of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. George Eklund of Kingston, Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Genoa and Mrs. Allie Cullison of Clare; also one nephew, Ralph Hoyt of Clare.
