Irene Louise Lyons, 80, a life long resident of Bridgewater, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015, in Heritage Valley Beaver.
She was born December 24, 1934 in Monaca and was the daughter of the late Telford D. Sr. and Kathryn Miller Birge. Irene was involved in numerous organizations, most of which she served as secretary or treasurer, including, Crucible Steel, Geneva College, Beaver County Heart and Cancer Society, Catholic Charities, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, AARP, Judge of Elections in Bridgewater, Municipal Authority of Bridgewater and had been a cafeteria monitor at College Square, Beaver. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, where among other things, she had served as organist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland W. 'Sonny' Lyons, Jr.; a brother, Telford 'Don' Birge, Jr. and a sister, Martha Fox.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy (Scott) MacLean, San Ramon, CA,; two grandchildren, Elizabeth 'Ellie' and Emily MacLean; a sister, Donna 'Joyce' Birge, Bridgewater; a sister-in-law, Joann (Charles) Wickwire, Turlock, CA; nieces and nephews, Terrie Birge, Randy Birge, Wendy Fuller, Ron Wickwire and Laura Colten, and great-nieces and great-nephews, Tim Birge, Rebecca Birge, Whyatt Birge and Stephanie Wickwire.
Friends will be received Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, Market Street, Bridgewater, where a service will conducted at the conclusion of the visitation at 8 p.m. by her pastor, the Reverend Harriett Hutton.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater United Methodist Church in Irene's memory.
