DENNISPORT - Helen B. Taylor, a retired businesswoman, died Friday at Cape Cod Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Alden R. Taylor.

She was the co-founder of Edson's in Dennisport in 1958 and managed the store until her retirement in 1984. She was known in the industry as one of the outstanding buyers in New England. In addition to her business acumen, Mrs. Taylor was an avid gardener, gourmet cook, horsewoman, breeder of cocker spaniels and an expert needle worker. Mrs. Taylor is survived by two daughters, Dolores Soffer of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Joyce Allen of Sudbury two sons, Alden Taylor of Dennis and Robert Taylor of Dennisport a sister, Marjorie Barry of Walpole six grandchildren a great-grandson her longtime friend, Lillian Bernard of Dennisport and friend and business associate, Edward Selib. A funeral service is at — p.m. Thursday at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth with interment to follow in Swan Lake Annex in Dennisport. Visiting is noon to — p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to O'Keefe Oncology Pavillion at Cape Cod Hospital, Cape Islands Regional Cancer Center, 4 Bayview St., Hyannis, MA 02601 or the Dennis Rescue Squad, 883 Main St., West Dennis, MA 02670.
