Dewie M. Downing, 83, of Danville died at 4:15 a.m. Friday (Oct. 2, 2015) at home.

Dewie was born January 15, 1932 in Love Township, a son of Charles L. and Caroline (Mitman) Downing. He married Nancy J. Copsy August 19, 1961 in Danville, she survives.

Also surviving are three children, Cindy (James) Steele, Tammy Star and David (Charlotte) Downing; seven grandchildren and five special nieces and nephews.

Dewie was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the V.A. Medical Center retiring in 1986.
