OBITUARY
Carl Burdett Hemenway was born on March 25, 1908, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Forest and Musa (Lowell) Hemenway. He grew up and attended school in Mitchell. He lived in various places West River working as a cowboy for area ranchers before moving to Presho in 1933.
On May 29, 1934, Carl married Grace Mueller in Murdo, South Dakota. He worked as a rancher and then started his own trucking business in the 1950's. Carl also worked at the Presho Livestock Auction Barn for approximately fifty years. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was a faithful usher for many years, always enlightening Sunday mornings with his whistling.
Carl is survived by one daughter, Helen Louder and husband Merrill of Draper, one son, Reverend William Hemenway and wife Sue of Costa Mesa, California; four sisters, Musa Cook and Alma Paige of Presho, Edith Homan of Rapid City, Shirley Wilson of California; three grandchildren, Rob Louder, Paul Hemenway and Mark Hemenway. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, six brothers, Forest, Ed, Russell, Earl, Merle, and Lewis; three sisters, Helen, Hazel, and Myrtle and one grandson, Rod Louder.
