William R. McCone, 67, of Hamburg died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. Born August 1, 1936, in Ashley County, he was a resident of Hamburg for the past 40 years and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Gardner Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Amelia Sheiron McCone; two sons, Wade McCone of Allen, TX and Mike McCone of Hamburg; one brother, Flady McCone Jr. of Springdale; two sisters, Pauline Sisson and Bernice Bays, both of Crossett; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flady and Velma Cash McCone; and one sister, Inez Jacobs.

Grave side services were held Saturday, October 18, at 10 a.m. at Hamburg Cemetery with Rev. Cliff Bernard officiating. Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg was in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearer was John M. Carter
