James Bell's first wife was Sarah Pulliam. He married her about 1824 and she died about 1829. Her place of death is not currently known. James had at least three children with her: Mary C., William Bell and Robert J. Bell. James married Susannah Green about 1830 in Cincinnati, Madison County, Ohio. They had at least six children: Elizabeth J., Peter R., Robert, Sarah A. (married George Bombeck), John H. and Samuel Fidellis Bell. The Bell family was a very early pioneer family in the state of Missouri. This family produced a large number of physicians, educators, and livestock/farm owners.
