Miss Amyx died Thursday, October 1, 2015 at her home.
She was born November 15, 1955, at West Plains, Missouri, to James Lee Amyx and Margaret Agnes “Margie” Harris Amyx. Cathey graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1974 and continued her education in nursing. On August 17, 1974, she was married at West Plains, to Steven Evans and to this union two children were born, Matthew and Jamie Lee. Miss Amyx was a Registered Nurse and had worked at several healthcare centers. She enjoyed her work and helping veterans. Her first position was at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital; she later worked at Ozarks Medical Center, Veteran’s Clinic and St. John’s Medical Center. Miss Amyx was a member of the Elk Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Sigel Evans and fiancé Dr. Jason Cathelyn, Boston, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Tyler James Acklin, Alivia Grace Acklin and Hannah Faith Acklin; the father of her children, Steven Evans, West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Janice Lee Bartlett, West Plains, Missouri; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Her parents and one daughter, Jamie Lee Evans, precede her in death.
