Impressive final rites were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Van Natta Funeral Home for Mrs. Richard Cook, 86, respected and well known life long resident of this community who died Friday morning at the local hospital after an illness of several weeks.
Rev. H. L. Michael of the Federated Church officiated and burial was in the Elmwood cemetery.
Ora Gardner was born in Sycamore, September 29, 1872, the daughter of Andrew and Melissa Black Gardner. She attended the local schools and in 1891, was married to Richard Cook.
Mrs. Cook's main interests radiated an her home and family. She was also a kind neighbor and friend and always giving generous assistance to those in need.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Royal Neighbors and Potter's Woman's Relief Corps.
Surviving are her husband, and one son, Fay Cook of Sycamore; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Jess Gardner and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Robinson, both of Sycamore, also several nieces and nephews. Two sons, Guy and Charles and a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Myrtle) Grahn preceded her in death.
