Belcher, LA - AJ was born in Hallsville, Texas on 8/31/1934 and passed away on 10/01/2015. He was 81 years old. AJ was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Lucille Crain, wife Mozell Crain and nephew John Crain. He is survived by his son Doug Crain, wife Catherine of Belcher, LA., Doug's mother, Kathy Jackson of belcher, LA., brother Floyd Crain, wife Betty of Bossier City, LA., grandson and granddaughter, Walter and Amy Crain of Belcher, LA., nephews Scott and Cody Crain and niece Cheryl Crain.

AJ graduated from Belcher High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He was voted best athlete his last two years in school. He went on to play professional baseball as a catcher for the Alexandria A's and the Lake Charles Lakers.

AJ served his country in the United States Marines. He was also on the Marine baseball team and got to travel all over the country playing baseball.

He had an outgoing personality and was a good salesman. After the Marines, he worked for Lane Wells and Trainer Surveys oil field service companies. He was a salesman for Key Lox office supply and Thompson Hayward an Ag. Chemical company. He also farmed a while with his brother in Belcher.

AJ was a Christian and was a member of The Belcher Methodist Church where he serve as Sunday School Superintendent for several years.

He loved to fish and he loved to cook, especially Bar-B-Que.

AJ was in bad health the last few years of his life and was living at the Heritage Manor South Nursing Home.

AJ will have a Graveside Service at the Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery in Mira, LA. on Monday, the 5th, 2015, at 10:00 AM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Emile Rousseau Jr., Pastor of the Gilliam Methodist Church.
