Mrs. Barrett said that Abbott's wife, who has been living with her parents in Hamburg, Iowa, was notified of her husband's death by an Army representative from Des Moines, Iowa, Monday. Mrs. Abbott is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Myron Buckner of Hamburg, Iowa. Abbott had been in Vietnam for three years, Mrs. Barrett said, and had 12 years of service in the Army. Mrs. Abbott, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Buckner is expecting their first offspring later this spring. She has been living with her parents since Sgt. Abbott went overseas. No other details of his death were known at press time. The funeral and burial will be at Nebraska City, Nebraska, but the date has not been set. Sgt. Abbott was a decorated hero of the war, having been awarded four purple hearts for previous wounds, in addition to a bronze star with cluster, and another bronze star with valor citation. He had been awarded the Air Medal for over 30 Missions, as well as a medal from the Vietnamese government.
