Donald H. Dunckel, 88, of Williamston, passed away Saturday. May 2, 2015. Don grew up in Lansing and attended Eastern High School. After 3½ years of naval service, Don returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Harriette Meissner.
Don retired from Lindell Drop Forge after 40 years. He was a sports fan and an avid outdoorsman. His favorite times were spent hunting, fishing and camping with the family and fellow Canada Club members.
Besides being an avid golfer, Don played and coached fast-pitch softball for many years and was active in many community activities.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Donald (Skip) Dunckel II.
Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Harriette, sons Douglas of Perry, and Daron of Williamston; daughter Dianne (Alan) Blair of Traverse City; daughter-in-law Michele (Skip) of Boston; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Williamston Chapel on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Williamston United Methodist Church, 211 S. Putman St, Williamston, MI.
Visitation will be at the church at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services, 1210 W. Saginaw St. Lansing MI 48915 or Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813
