"Three months after the death of his mother, George W. Bowman, the only surviving son of John H. and Mary died at age 22. He was also buried in the family cemetery and left no issue.
George had been employed with his father in the family milling business and was a member of the 3rd KY Regiment of Volunteers.
His father, John H. Bowman, lived a successful life during trying times and the civil war. At the age of 80 he died, in 1878, at his home in Christian County, KY. He was buried in the extant family farm cemetery (old Dr Ed Rumsey Cemetery) along with his family at the farm in Christian County, KY that he had occupied for 25 years."
