Daughter of Matthew Trent. Married to Nelson Story at approximately age 18. She was a pioneer in Bozeman, MT in 1863 during the gold rush. They had seven children including: Alice Montana, Rosa, Nelson, Thomas Byron, and Walter Perry.

The Ellen Theatre a variety playhouse, was opened in 1919 and named after Ellen Trent Story, wife of prominate historic figure Nelson Story who was instramental in starting Montana's cattle industry in the late 1800's. The Theatre was for a time use as a cinematic theater, however, it was closed in 2007, purchased by the Montana TheatreWorks, restored to its past glory, and reopened in late 2008 as a theatre of fine arts.
