By 1853, her mother Maria had remarried Rodolphus Fuller, a veterinary surgeon. The couple had three more children in Ontario (Herbert, Jemima and Rodolphus Jr) before moving to Yorkville, Racine Co., Wisconsin. The entire family--including Maria and her sister Emeline--lived there for a time before Rodolphus relocated them all again, to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where many of the family remained.
Maria Jane Wickham married John Albert Scobell, July 1, 1867, in Kent County, Michigan. In November of the following year she was a witness at her younger sister Emeline's marriage to William Fuller (Rodolphus' son by his first wife, Jemima Morden) in Quebec, where William was working for McGill University's medical dept.
Sometime between their marriage in 1867 and 1875, Maria and J. Albert Scobell moved to Cape Vincent, Jefferson, New York, and settled down to raise their family.
