Ruby LaVerne Hoelzen, 93, of Burlington, died at 8:45 PM Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born November 22, 1921, in Alamo, TN, she was the daughter of Walter and Florence Culuffer Bodkin. On June 16, 1941, she married Robert Hugo Hoelzen in McLemoresville, TN. He died December 23, 2000.

Ruby was a homemaker.

She was a 1940 graduate of Alamo High School.

She was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing Bingo and Skippo at Autumn Heights, where she was a resident for many years. She was a die-hard St, Louis Cardinal's and Iowa Hawkeye's fan.

Besides her husband she was preceded by her parents, and one sister Maggie Mae Legget.
