DOYLE
Mary A. Barton (sic Barlow) was born near Easkey county Sligo, Ireland, August 15, 1834 and died at Holton, Kansas, April 26, 1925 aged 90 years 8 months and 11 days. At the age of 11 years she went to England for a few years and emigrated to America with her mother and family in 1856 and located in Doniphan county where she was married to E. J. Doyle in 1867 (sic 1864).
In 1869, they located in Jackson county on the present Doyle farm one and one-half miles northwest of Larkinburg. Here she resided the greater part of her life, enduring the hardships of the early settlers.
She was almost the last one of the old settlers of the Larkinburg community to pass away.
She was always a good neighbor and was very friendly and free hearted. She was always helping care for the sick as long as her health permitted. She was also very loyal to her church. Mr. Doyle preceded her in death 29 years ago, also the youngest son, John J. died in 1901.
She leaves to mourn her loss one step daughter, Mrs. Mary McFadden of Whiting and Edward and Nancy of Holton with whom she has made her home, also six grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Father O'Neill, at the Catholic church at Holton, April 28, and burial was at Effingham, Kansas.
