US Congressman. A steel and iron manufacturer, he served as member of the Select Council of Philadelphia from 1851 to 1857 and as its President from 1853 to 1857. He was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth and Thirty-seventh Congresses, serving from 1859 to 1863. After declining to be a candidate for re-nomination, Verree resumed his former manufacturing pursuits and served as President of the Philadelphia Union League in 1875 and 1876.
