Gone to rest, after a long and weary life of toil, Mrs. Mary McGuire, of this county, near Vienna, aged 74 years.
Her death was very sudden and unexpected. She had been feeling somewhat unwell for three or four days, when on Tuesday morning the 21st, at about twenty minutes past three o'clock the disease which was supposed to be neuralgia of the stomach struck to her heart, and her life was ended before there could any alarm be given. She survived the death of her husband one year lacking only two days. She was born and married in Ohio, lived about thirty years of her life in Indiana, where her children were all reared up. Moved to Kansas in 1863 and has been a citizen of this county since 1864. Had been a member of the Christian church, about forty years, but during the last year of her life had become more deeply interested in bible study, and in her last words just a few minutes before her death expressed perfect content of mind with regard to her own future destiny, but greatly desired to call all her children together that she might exhort them once more to be faithful, expressing fears that some of them might be led away by the cares of the world and not be permitted to meet her in the world beyond. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sikes, who gave words of comfort to the bereaved children and friends.
