BLOOMINGTON — Thomas M. Ahlers, 65, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 2:49 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2015) at St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla., surrounded by his children and family.
Tom was born on Oct. 11, 1949, in Bloomington, the son of William Carl and Roberta Mary Ahlers.
He is survived by his wife, Joy De Leon; sons, Tommy Ahlers, Bloomington, and Eric Ahlers, St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Jennifer (Victor) Arreola, Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Theresa (Richard) Burwitz, Chatham; Lynn (Steve) Monahan, Naperville; Steve (Laurie) Ahlers, Ohio; and Mary (Lon), Lincoln, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom was the founder of Pizza World in Central Illinois, a local favorite. He was an entrepreneur at heart and he will be missed by many.
Private services will be in St. Petersburg and in Bloomington.
