A Vietnam veteran, Michael served his country from 1967-1971 with the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant with the Green Berets. He had two tours of duty to Vietnam; the first tour specializing in radio communications and repair; in the second tour he was involved in many combat missions. His entire family was very proud of his service. He was recently awarded a Certification of Appreciation from the department of Veteran Affairs for his willingness to help others.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Anne Yerkes and her husband, John; his 'second mom,' Mary Yerkes; nephews, Joshua Yerkes (Lori) and Justin Yerkes (Melissa); niece, Christa Martin (Nick); his great-nieces and nephews, Brittany and Dylan Weaver, Brynley and Brody Yerkes, and Alyssa Martin; aunts; uncles; numerous cousins; dear friend, Willy Klinnert and family; and his feline buddy, Spooky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel L. Ginley Jr.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003.
